Advantech launches edge AI compute products using Qualcomm Dragonwing platform

Advantech has unveiled a new set of edge AI compute products built on Qualcomm’s Dragonwing IQ-X platform. The lineup includes the AOM-6731 module, AIMB-293 motherboard, and SOM-6820 system-on-module aimed at industrial deployments. Advantech said the designs use 12-core and 10-core CPU configurations with peak clocks up to 3.4 GHz, and integrate on-device AI acceleration rated up to 45 TOPS, plus Wi-Fi 7 and 5G. It positioned the range for automation, machine vision, and inference workloads where power efficiency is prioritized.

The company said the platform is designed to run demanding edge workloads locally, reducing dependence on cloud connectivity. It highlighted LPDDR5X memory support and UFS 3.1 storage as enablers for faster data movement in vision and analytics pipelines. Advantech also cited efficiency comparisons indicating lower average power use than typical x86 systems during common office and media tasks, a factor that can matter for fanless or space-constrained industrial PCs. By pairing on-device AI with Wi-Fi 7 and optional 5G, it is targeting automation controllers, machine-vision gateways, and HMI systems that need low latency and reliable networking.
